The UN sustainable goal #5 Gender Equality focuses on empowering women and girls, with example, equal access to education etc.
They state equality is a fundamental human right and a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
Gender?
One dictionary definition of gender refers to male or female.
Another is being male or female in relation to the social and cultural roles that are considered appropriate….. both binary concepts.
Certain roles were expected of men, ie tough, macho and with women nurturing, passive.
Have these roles and definitions become obsolete with a change in culture which now allows for additional identities?
Non-binary gender terminology now includes LGBTQ2+ and some of these aspects of Identity were explored.
“The Beginners Guide to Gender” was also quoted to give some clarification.
