April Spring Session #2 – Helping Hands Program

Trisha from Helping Hands Program gave us a very informative talk about their programme.

The Ontario Works employment programme, which has been in existence since 1977, enables seniors, and people with disabilities, to remain in their own home by receiving help with the manual tasks necessary in maintaining their home and in supporting their independence.

The workers perform various tasks, for example, some of the help available is with house cleaning, laundry, lawn maintenance etc.

We had lots of questions, not only about how clients apply for this programme, who is eligible etc., but also about the planning and organizing of the workers who carry out the tasks.

Thank you Trisha, for lots of information to share with others.

Should anyone like information we have pamphlets and business cards. The phone number: 905-546-2828

We will meet again for our 3rd week, next Thursday 10.00 – 12.00, when we will welcome the Crown Point Garden Club. We look forward to hearing from them and then sharing the knowledge that we will gain with others. If you are able, you are most welcome to join us.

We have scheduled 4 weeks but if there is sufficient interest we will add a 5th week when we are able to join a yoga session at Fine Feather on MONDAY May 7, cost by donation, with a question and answer period to follow. Please let us know if you are interested.
